Rhianne Paz Bergado Orange County, CA. Rhianne's ambitions to become a filmmaker began in elementary school when she animated stick figures in the margins of history text books. In high school she went on to take classes in animation and video editing. Today she carries a Bachelor's Degree in Radio/TV/Film & Animation, and a Master of Fine Arts in Television & Film production. Ironically Rhianne had never owned a video camera until she was 19 years old. She then started her own Production Company called Divine Hype Productions. Since then her films have been screened nationally and internationally at venues like Visual Communications, Cinemanila, Anime Expo, Cintax, Comic-Con International, and Pacific Media Expo. Her Television production experience includes, Court TV, MTV, & Disney's Cast TV. Her narrative and documentary work hinges on social justice, with a unique touch of wit and humor. She blends her background as a spoken word artist, visual artist, musician, and DJ with her storytelling abilities. While Rhianne is best known for her work as a filmmaker she holds many awards and honors as a poet and spoken word artist. Her published work can be found in "Inspirations for LGBT Students & Their Allies." For years she competed in the college poetry slam circuit, winning the Association for College Union International Regional Poetry Slam, and runner-up in the International Poetry Slam. Her Poem "Hush, Hush" was used in a national "I DARE YOU" anti-hate crime campaign. This poem was also presented to Judy Shepard, mother of Matthew Shepard, the vicitm of a highly publicized hate crime that took place in 1998 in Laramie Wyoming. In 2001 She won first place in the Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture Poetry Slam. Music and Performance has always played a role in Rhianne's life, she's been a DJ at clubs, events, and festivals for years. Her DJ resume includes, Long Beach Pride, Hamburger Mary's, Club Feline, Club Skin, Hot Friday's, and Video Star. Although she is known to incorporate obscure Disney samples, and vintage foreign language recordings into her set, she is currently retired from the club circuit, and DJs weekly in her living room for her Pomeranian. New beats and vocals by Rhianne can be found on her band's myspace page: RABBIT HEART. Rhianne has remained involved in many community organizations over the years including the Association for Inter-Cultural Awareness, Filipino-American Student Union, Lesbian Gay and Bisexual Alliance, The Center Orange County, Grrl Fair, Orange County Human Relations Committee, and Visual Communications. She hosts youth workshops for positive self-expression and hopes one day to attain a PhD in Cultural Media Studies.
